I believe that the only way to treat an individual is by centering on the mind and body connection to provide a more holistic picture. My practice is based on an open-minded forum that is patient-centered and encompasses the many facets that form a personality, including one's mind, body, spirit, and environment.
All of my patients are active participants in guiding the treatment process by assessing what works for them and what does not. Each person who comes to me for assistance does so with certain needs, and it is our mission to evaluate them and find the best course to tackle the struggles that they are facing.
Our early experiences help to shape future reactions and behaviors, which is why I focus on all stages of my patient’s background and upbringing. I find great satisfaction in working with children, adolescents, and adults to find treatment solutions that fit their current situations, as well as attempt to make sense of their prior conflicts. I offer comprehensive treatment that aims to have an impact on your body, mind, and quality of life. Sometimes that requires the assistance of medication; at other times, we will delve into exercise, diet, and sleep. The focus is always on finding mindful treatment solutions that work for you. I do so by getting to know each patient I treat, their perspectives, experiences, and most importantly, their goals for treatment. As a physician, I look for underlying or predisposing medical conditions that may be the catalyst for mental health issues - or the reverse, where our state of mind affects physical health. I believe the initial evaluation process is critical to uncovering the comprehensive picture of a person’s well-being and to determine the most effective treatment modality to address their conflicts.
Psychotherapy is a practice that focuses on achieving better mental well-being. That involves working to accept limitations, improving resilience, tolerating emotions and thoughts, increasing your self-awareness and self-esteem, and developing a better understanding of the underlying factors that may be influencing your mental health.
At times, external conflicts can trigger predisposing vulnerabilities and lead to emotional difficulties. My mission is to help use these conflicts as a means for personal growth and understanding to help guide adaptations in future situations. Throughout the course of psychotherapy, we may want to revisit medication options as indicated.
Psychotherapy is only one tool at our disposal to find a resolution to the internal and external struggles you are experiencing. In my experience and training, all patients can benefit from psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is initiated with a consistent regular frequency, which may be adjusted as goals of treatment and needs change. Weekly appointments are the standard, although more or less frequent options can be implemented as needed or desired.
At the point you feel as if your situation has stabilized, we can discuss tapering your appointments to suit your needs for ongoing maintenance.
Patients will be billed according to their scheduled appointment time for late or missed appointments. Please make any appointment changes or cancellations at least two days before our scheduled meeting to avoid being billed for the missed time.
Prescriptions are written and refilled during scheduled appointments. If an emergency arises, authorization will be evaluated according to the circumstances. For medication management to be an effective treatment format, it takes a collaborative effort between my patients and myself to both monitor and refill necessary meditation as needed. Prescribing outside of office appointments is never a preferred method of care.
