I am a Charleston native. I completed undergraduate training at Davidson College in Davidson, NC, and received my Medical Doctorate degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. I completed my adult psychiatric training at the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, where I served as chief resident. I gained experience in a variety of psychotherapy modalities including psychodynamic (insight-oriented), supportive, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
I then completed Child and Adolescent fellowship training at the Payne-Whitney Clinic of the Cornell Division of New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. I received intensive training in early infancy psychiatry at the Sackler Institute, and Autistic Spectrum disorder psychiatry with Dr. Margaret Hertzig, a longstanding pioneer in the field. I pursued extensive further training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and play therapy.
Upon my completion of training, I relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, and entered private practice. I serve as voluntary clinical faculty at the department of psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina. I am board certified in both Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
